Activities
at Ein Gedi - all systems go!
Many visitors come to Ein Gedi
to find peace and tranquility in one of the world's most ancient
and beautiful landscapes. But, anyone willing to make a slight effort,
will find an endless variety of activities and rare experiences.
Take
a hike!
The Judean desert has been the
cradle of many civilizations throughout history - both the world
of the humans and the world of flora and fauna. Hikers, the adventurous
of spirit, and the incurably inquiring, can sample these in a variety
of guided tours to the nature reserve, including bird-watching (Ein
Gedi is a crossroad for migrating birds), swimming i n
the natural waterfalls, a visit to Nachal Arugot, Nachal David,
etc.
Action
Ein
Gedi Country is the dream of every rappelling enthusiast. The area
has a number of breathtaking and challenging cliffs, as well as
Israel's longest Omega (hand-slide) - 150 meters long, 80 meters
high.
4x4
Ein
Gedi Country offers a variety of safari
routes in the wild, remote interior of the Judean Hills.
Tours are organized for groups of 30 - 45 people, accompanied by
a guide and driver. Tours last from four hours to a whole
day. You can choose day or night tours, for ind ividuals,
families or groups, leaving from different parts
of the country. Jordan can be included
in the tour route.
Bedouin 'Hafla'
The Bedouin, born in this area, are a
human nature reserve on their own right.
We can make reservations for events to be held in a Bedouin
tent, with authentic (kosher)
food, for barmitzvahs, weddings, etc.
Anyone looking for something truly original is
assured
of an unforgettable experience.
The
way is through the stomach
Like the Bedouin'Hafla', nature tours can
be customized to include a guide, food/catering, for any style or
number. For those who get hungry spontaneously, there are restaurants
catering to a variety of tastes: Ein Gedi Spa Restaurant Ein Gedi
Inn (kosher) GuestHouse restaurant (kosher) and the kibbutz dining
room.
Archaeological
treasures
There
are many routes, starting with Masada - a fascinating cultural treasure,
and symbol of heroism for the Jewish people; through the Qumran
Caves where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered; and on to the
Chalcolithic temple close by the kibbutz. The area also contains
the remains of an ancient synagogue from the Mishnaic period, a
beautiful mosaic telling the tale of a period in Hebrew and Aramaic,
and much more.
Sailing with 'Lot's Wife'-an hour of just going with the flow
The Dead Sea's only excursion ship
glides away from the Judean Hills providing passengers with one
of Israel's most beautiful, panoramic views. The cruise leaves Ein
Gedi beach, passes by the nature reserve and sails towards the Mount ains
of Moab and Nachal Arnon in Jordan. The combination of geophysical
factors, making this the lowest point on earth - 730 meters below
sea level - is the highlight of the trip.
A
sportsman's paradise - the Olympic sports center
Low
precipitation, a comfortable climate almost all year round, a high
oxygen content in the air, the sulfur springs, the concentration
of minerals in the sea water, breathtaking scenery, the special
atmosphere - in short, ideal conditions for fostering the good health
and physical and mental abilities required for competitive sport.
In the very heart of this natural sports 'incubator', a sports center
has been built at Ein Gedi offering visitors a wide variety of facilities,
of the highest professional standard. These include: a gym, running
track, football field, modern sports hall, tennis courts, swimming
pools - one open, the other a semi-Olympic, covered and heated pool.
Coaches interested in combining health and happiness are invited
to bring their teams to Ein Gedi any time of the year.
